The touchscreen gets washed out by any sunlight (yes even with tinted windows). The display has many gremlins, sometimes when you first cut on the car you get a blue and white lines across the whole screen that can only be cured by cutting the car off and then back on, no just cutting off the radio or closing and reopening the screen wont work. Then when it does work just drive down the road on a hot day, then the screen turns orange or red, all you see are numbers but no words.
Ok, now the remote! big and thin with buttons that are all spaced apart the same. You cant reference any point on the remote so that you can use it without looking at it. You have to look first before you take off and then keep your finger at your reference point which for me was the volume, from there you could go up for forwarding the cd to the next track. A decent touchscreen car radio for a low price., December 31, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Boss BV9993 In-Dash DVD/MP3/CD AM/FM Receiver (Electronics) I was looking for a new radio to replace my old stock for my 2001 hyndai sonata. I was researching for a month at least. I just could not decide whether I should save 50 dollars and get a 1 DIN after class radio that has the standard things that I would need, or go all out and get what a really wanted, which was a 1 DIN pull out touchscreen like the one in my dad's truck. I could have gotten rid of the storage space and put a 2 DIN touchscreen but I decided against that because 1, I wanted the storage space very much. And 2, I didn't want people seeing that I had a touchscreen in my dash or else they'd be very tempted to steal it. So in the end I settled on this radio. The Boss BV9993. It has ALMOST all the features I wanted in a touchscreen. Everything EXCEPT navigation. When I was looking up the features I asked over and over again if it was navigation ready and never received an answer. Well, for all who are wondering. It DOES NOT. I think for the price it is a great product, it has a large screen (must have tinted windows to be able to see it clearly) that is pretty good, touch screen works perfectly. IMO Sound quality is good, I'm sure if you are willing to pay $1,000 for a deck this may not sound very good to you, but for me it sounds great.
RDS works okay, sometimes it will get it wrong but will fix it soon after (almost like it can't get a good enough signal).
The 3.5mm jack works great and sounds good.
Bluetooth is kind of a long story, I connected it to my iphone and it sounded just okay (some noise) but it always connected and worked. With my Nexus one it sounds great (almost as good as the 3.5mm jack) but sometimes it will connect and work great and other times it will cut in and out no matter where the phone is it. using it for calls is out of the question for me because I have a diesel with strait exhaust and mud...
